Earth Day - Paint Me

^^ Osup!

This is a campaign at The Gardens in conjunction with the Earth Day. You are allowed to pick up a brush and paint on any parts of their body. Yes, any parts!!! And they won’t move. They will just freeze like a mannequin but in fact they are real humans. Bravo.

Dessert: Steam Egg Custard

by Jo@nN3 on Mar.17, 2010, under Foodie Skribbles

^^ Osup!

Oopps….I almost forgot that I have a blog. Thanks to the egg custard that made me realize it. Coz I intend to write it down in my blog as my own record. It was my first attempt and it turns out quite okay but it could be better. I did not manage to snap a picture of it as I was too eager to try how does it taste like. The ingredients that I use was pretty simple and it is just right for one serving (you can double up the ingredients as you like depending on your desired no. of servings). Since this is my first time, I was doing it in a very small portion.

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons of fresh milk (or evaporated milk)
  • 3 tablespoons of water
  • 4 teaspoons of sugar (or lesser; depending on your personal preference on the sweetness)

Methods:

  1. Prepare steamer. Boil the water.
  2. Beat the eggs lightly.
  3. Add in the sugar and whisk till the sugar dissolves.
  4. Add in the milk and water and beat the eggs lightly (you can substitute the water with ginger juice if you like to add some flavors to it)
  5. If there are bubbles, use a paper towel to dab it slowly (slight bubbles are okay so long the surface is smooth).
  6. Strain the mixture into small bowl and cover it with foil (to avoid the steam of the water to flow in).
  7. Transfer the bowl to the steamer and steam it for about 10-15 minutes  in low or medium heat (avoid using high heat or else your custard will not be smooth and full of holes on the surface).
  8. Don’t over steam the eggs or else it will be tough.

Try it yourself and enjoy! I gonna make my 2nd attempt very soon and it will definitely be better  :D

^^ Osup!

The CNY press ads from Digi is very impressive this year.  Their concept of using yellow man to usher the year of the tiger is very creative and different from the ordinary CNY ads. Well done!!!!

The difference between free and bonus

by Jo@nN3 on Jan.29, 2010, under A&P or Mktg Skribbles

^^ Osup!

I agree with Seth Godin on how he differentiates between free and bonus.  This might be useful for you in your future promos. Before you starts giving away some freebies for your next promo, think twice on the objective of your initiative.

  • Free is something you get, no matter what.
  • A bonus is something you get as an add-on when you purchase something, or trade your attention.
  • The purpose of free is to spread the word, alert the universe and generate interest.
  • The purpose of a bonus is to reward immediate action and to sway the undecided.

Petrol Price Hike 2010 – true or not?

by Jo@nN3 on Jan.27, 2010, under Randomie Skribbles

^^ Osup!

I just received an email about our fuel price and I find it too ridiculous to be true.

PUTRAJAYA, Jan 8 – The mechanism for fuel pricing in Malaysia has finally been finalized and controlled under one mechanism, which also takes the high and lower income group people into consideration, according to Finance Trade Minister Tan Sri Anuar Ali.

“From May 1, the fuel will be pegged at RM 3.90 per litre for RON97, while RON95 will increase to RM 3.70 per litre. However, the prices of national-made vehicles will be lowered by at least 40 percent. For example, a full-spec family sedan Proton Persona 1.6 litre engine will cost around RM 23,000.00 excluding road tax and insurance. Import tax and excise duty will be revised to only 30 percent, from the current 200 percent. Imported vehicles such as the new Toyota Camry 2.4 litre engine will cost around RM 65,000.00.” he said.

The mechanics has been said to be undertaken by a team of experts from Australia and Canada who were earlier briefed on the issue of subsidy in this country, whereas after consideration by the transport minister, they have signed the constitution that the system will be made on May 1, the day it goes into effect.

Under the new system, there will be a major effect on the existing consumers who have already purchased a vehicle and to those who are in the midst of repaying the loan of their vehicle to their financial institutions.

Ahmad Tajuddin said the government might also re-introduce a cash return annually to Malaysians who own a 1,500 cc and below vehicle. The amount have yet to be decided but he assured that the amount will compensate the price of fuel by at least half to eligible Malaysians based on bumi quota.
– SkyNet News Asia

I believe this is just another hoax created by some jokers who have nothing better to do.

  1. Who the hell is Tan Sri Anuar Ali? There is no such person in the Cabinet.
  2. Since when do we have a new goverment minister called Finance Trade Minister? We do have a Finance Minister and a Trade Minister but certainly not a Finance Trade Minister.
  3. It is near to impossible that the government would want to reduce the import tax and excise duty from 200% to 30% on imported vehicles. It will create a huge impact to the government and the sale of our national-made cars by removing those tax. (I don’t think they are dumb enough to do something which will impact a lost of billions of ringgits.)
  4. SkyNet News Asia? This does not exist at all.  Try googling it and you will know. There is no such news media at all. I know SkyNet but only as a courier company.

Conclusion: For those who are hoping that this piece of news to be true esp. on the tax reduction, all I have to say is -> DREAM ON! It wil never be true unless our ministers are abucted by aliens and they ruled our country. So, wake up!

Snowflake – taiwanese dessert secret

by Jo@nN3 on Jan.20, 2010, under Foodie Skribbles

Snowflake

^^ Osup!

I came across this dessert stall at Pavilion, right in front of the Padini Concept Store and decided give it a try coz they are having the Buy 1 Get 1 Free promotion. The dessert originality is from Taiwan and they claimed that their ingredients are healthy. They are famous with the taroballs in their dessert which came in two flavours (I think it is yam and sweet potato). How’s the taste? Not bad, I like the chewy feeling of the taroballs (but some people find it annoying).

Beeping UFO

This is an amazing device that they will give you upon ordering. It’s a beeping UFO that will beeps with lights and vibrates when your order is ready. The small wordings on the device reads:

“BEEPING UFO”

This is a “beeping UFO” that is part of our wonderful alien technology here on SNOWFLAKE. This allows you to chillout while we make your order.

When this baby UFO starts vibrating and flashing,

THAT MEANS IT”S READY !

Please go to the collection counter to retrieve your yummy mouth watering dessert!

Please return the “BEEPING UFO” to the aliens……uh…..i mean the staff at the counter before collections.

THANKS!

Psst….now you know why Taiwan is so much more technologically advanced

…ALIENS…

I wonder how much they spent for the device. I find it cool but it’s quite unnecessary tho. And why are they calling their staff aliens? LOL. And hell yea, all taiwanese are aliens for being technologically savvy. Haha. Okie, back to the dessert, I ordered are the Bestseller, hot and my friend chose the cold one.

Bestseller - HOT
Bestseller Hot – NOT RECOMMENDED

(1) It is not presentable.
(2) It smells like those chinese bitter herbal tea.
(3) It taste like those sweet herbal tea (similar to pat chi chou).
(4) The soup gets thicker half way coz of the grass jelly.
(5) The peanut taste weird.
(6) The taroballs get slimy in the hot soup.

Bestseller - COLD
Bestseller Cold - better than the hot one, so it is okay to try

(1) There are ice underneath the taroballs and grass jelly (ice-kacang type).
(2) The cold taroball is nicer and more chewy compare to the hot one.
(3) It taste more normal as compare to the hot one.
(4) Can taste the flavour of the orange and greyish taroballs.
